If you want to dance,
With a stranger on the streets,
And wear stockings,
That only come up to your knees,
If you want to stay alive,
Like the Bee Gees,
Let me remind you,
It’s all for sale –
In olden days, a smile on the side
In the direction of a man
Could wreak havoc across ten miles
And through marriage at the fan.
But now, if you want to
Sleep with the handsome devil
And keep your validation intact
Just ask your boyfriend to spare an evening
And join in on the act.
If old Napoleon should come and see
Everything that democracy
In our lives and relationships and countries
He’s sure to be in for a shock!
And if good ol’ kind Akbar
Saw what we can make if not war
Then a population of 1.2 billion
Might leave him in a funny fog.
Why, if Christopher Columbus found
That India was the other way round
And all he did was nothing much
But inspire Pocahontas’ songs of grudge!
What a funny world we have become!
Where anything is bought and sold for a sum,
And though I’m not too religious,
I say let’s party with the Pope, anything goes!
