Words and Voices: Does It Even Matter?

Words and Voices: Does It Even Matter?

Does It Even Matter

by Nachiket Vaidya

Does it even matter?
The question always recurs
When nothing else does

Does it even matter
That I want to
Let my tears douse my
Burning heart
And let them
Extinguish the smouldering words

Does it even matter
That I want to
Shatter the image that
Stares back at me
Through the crystal glass
And let the cracks
Fill my visage

Does it even matter
That if I let my thoughts awry
They’ll jilt me and tilt me to
Schopenhauer’s poles of life

Does it even matter
That I want to
Let my screams
Empty my insides
And fill them with holes

Does it even matter
That I want to let my
Fingers crush the very surface
They write on
And throw away the resulting piece

Does it even matter
That I prefer
Nietzsche’s nihilist rants
To Shakespeare’s sweet tragedies

Does it even matter
That I want to cut myself
And let the empathy drain
From my body
And unleash the rest
On the world, I see and live in

Does it matter
The question always recurs
But hey…
Does it even matter?

About Nachiket Vaidya:

Ayyyy I’m trying to get to a point where I don’t need to give introductions anymore…oh and yeah, everything is larger than life, especially when you grab a smoke.
