Motivation, you there?
Is there heaploads of work to finish by the end of week?
I just can’t. No matter how hard I try, the so-called move is never easy to make. Finishing the daily reading quota or having a healthy lunch are two things I can almost never tick off from the list. Each day, I convince myself, is a new start. Get. Work. Done. Today. Please? After attending college, I return to the hostel and rest (read procrastinate) for some time. Then I head to the study area with all my books, stationery, laptop, water-bottle, a chocolate or two (who knows how long I’ll stay there!), earphones (I may need to watch an online lecture video!) and (ahem ahem) my phone. I begin reading, diligently highlighting important portions of the text, using my new arrow flags to mark important lines and underline using the good old pencil. All’s well for the first few minutes until my phone buzzes. There. Fast-forward to two hours later, I have successfully whatsapped a few friends, put up an instagram story, read two buzz-feed articles, added ten expensive and useless items to my cart on amazon, removed the ten expensive and useless items off my cart ,finished the chocolates(no regret there, smackkkk!) and ohh read eight pages out of the hundred that I was supposed to. But if not now, when?! Well, let me throw my hair back with a swish and say ” After all, tomorrow is another day !” Quoting Margaret Mitchell always works. Always(with a dramatic but happy sigh!). Always reminds me of Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows. Now I need to watch it! But obviously you can’t watch the 7th movie directly so I do a harry potter marathon! A day spent well, wouldn’t you say?
The next day is the same, only with a different distraction (a new book, or a sudden urge to clean my room!)and the day after that, too. And the day after that. Maybe I’ll try and apply the Pareto Principle for my exam, efficiently finishing 80% of work in the 20% time that I have. Yes, that’s the plan I’ll stick to. Hope is all I can root for.
